Lotus House, Japan - The Checkerboard House

Lotus House is a 5,737-square-foot weekend home located in west of Tokyo, Japan. Architect Kengo Kuma decided to use travertine (imported from Italy) as the choice of material. Kengo took inspiration from the Japanese tendency to blur boundaries between inside and out, and turned it into the “architecture of holes”.

Full of lotus.
Nice picture. Thanks for sharing.
Yes I really like how he combined a modern architecture with nature!
architecture of envy..wow
Yes it is one of the nicest architecture I have seen that combines with nature, I really like it too.
i think it’s interesting cause it seems like there’s a lot of things inside (layers, structures, shapes…etc) but it’s still very spacious. and yeah, as you said, i like the idea of combining modern architecture and nature.
For extra tranquility the Japanese pond inside the living room…!!!
Fantastic living
Yes I wonder how much money it would be for maintenance every week
and put away ALL these stuff so it looks minimal empty again….
